Incotrans renders the shipowner as well as the customer a longstanding efficient service in overseas shipping.
Actually Incotrans activities are primarily in liner representation, chartering and port agency today, originally the picture was quite different
Incotrans takes pride in its over 130 years of shipping experience. Holland Amerika Lijn based in Rotterdam, The Netherlands, whose freight division was renamed Incotrans in 1975, was shipowner from its founding in1873.
In 1975, Holland Amerika Lijn’s freight division was sold to a Swedish group.
For more than 20 years, Incotrans has been involved as a co-owner in key consortia like Atlantic Container Line (ConRo Service) and Combi Line (Lash), while at the same time acting as the sales organization for these services.
This broad experience in both the principal and agency aspects of the maritime transportation business has been highly instrumental in making Incotrans what they are today – an agency fully aware of the operations and profitability challenges facing the whole industry.
Since January 1st, 1996 Incotrans’ previous owner, Atlantic Container Line preferred to concentrate on their core business, a shipping line to North America without a 3rd party agency organization. Effected by a management-buy outIncotrans became a flexible small and independent Hamburg and Bremen based agency organization efficiently managed by capable and motivated people.
